It's the middle of the night on Friday, and like the good journalist I am, I'm doing a little homework on Brett Wallace. Let's hope the River Bandits PR Dept. doesn't throw me a curve and give me Pete Kozma or Lance Lynn instead, because I'd be lost. Or I'd just ask those guys, "What is Brett Wallace's favorite movie? How does it feel to be drafted by the Cardinals, assuming your name was Brett Wallace?"
My gauntlet of hard-hitting questions isn't written in stone yet, but I'm working on them.
I found out that Brett and I have at least one thing in common - blogging. Check out his pre-draft blog on mlb.com. It looked like he took his job seriously, so I won't pull a Buzz Bissinger on him for ruining the credibility of blogs everywhere. If it wasn't obvious, "credibility" and "perfecting our craft" is something we work hard at, 37% of the time.
It shouldn't be too bad, and like I said the other day, I'm pretty excited about this. QC even won their game Friday night 18-0 (!), so the guys should all be in a good mood. I imagine after the interview, I'll be invited to the big Saturday night parties around the Davenport area. Although, through my extensive research, I have discovered that Wallace is a video game junkie. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll get lit up in some XBox baseball by a future Major Leaguer.
So it's on to Davenport for the big Quad Cities/Dayton showdown, then Sunday we'll be hitting Peoria to check on some future Cubs (except when I looked at the roster...eesh, maybe not). At least Ryne Sandberg will be there managing.
Up until earlier this year, it had been a while since I went on a road trip to anywhere further than um, Alton. But my 2008 asskicking tour continues (Champaign, KC, Springfield, QC, Peoria) and we still have five months to go. We'll check in with you Sunday night and let you know how it went. One would assume I'll bring the Librarian back with me, but there's a good chance she'll get lost at the Tiki Bar, in hopes of becoming one of the future Cardinal wives.
As a side note, Sir and I didn't do a good enough job of being offensive in front of her in Kansas City, so we'll try to step up our game over the next two days. We owe it to you. We owe it to her. We owe it to ourselves.

Hit Big Al's in Peoria. Trust me, you won't regret it. I lived right there for a few years and had some...err...fun.
